Major Duncan Smith wrote the article in "The Times" of January 14th. 1947. He returned from Hong Kong with an unusual knowledge of the Colony, a great interest and desire to serve the Chinese and an appreciation of the immense contribution that Britain can make to China, particularly through the retention of Hong Kong.

Suggestion that he should be considered as a possible

Political Adviser for Hong Kong.
